Apple’s first-party repair service is good but expensive, slow for older models and unavailable for anything out of warranty with obsolete-part status. An Apple-authorised service provider sits somewhere in between. An independent Mac specialist like Verge Tech Solutions is the third option: on-site, same-day where possible, honest about what can and cannot be repaired, and roughly half the price for most out-of-warranty work.
We cover every Apple Mac currently sold and most Intel-era Macs from 2015 onward. MacBook Pro repair
14-inch, 16-inch · M1 to M4 Pro/Max · Intel (2016 onward)
Screen assemblies for Retina and Liquid Retina XDR displays, battery packs, Magic Keyboard decks, trackpads, logic-board component work and top-case swaps. Apple silicon MacBook Pros (M1, M2, M3, M4 and the Pro and Max variants) have soldered RAM and storage, so we are upfront about which repairs are and are not possible.
MacBook Air repair
13-inch, 15-inch · M1 to M4 · Intel (2018–2020)
Cracked screens, swollen batteries on older Intel models, keyboard swaps on butterfly-era machines and the more recent scissor-switch replacements, liquid-damage recovery and macOS reinstalls. Same-day service on in-stock Air display assemblies.
iMac repair
24-inch M1/M3 · 27-inch Retina 5K Intel · 21.5-inch Intel
iMac screen replacements on the 21.5-inch and 27-inch Retina models require specialist display-adhesive strips and a sealed-panel technique. We carry the kit. Fusion Drive replacement with SSD is one of our most common iMac jobs and the single biggest speed improvement for older Intel iMacs.
Mac mini repair
M1, M2, M4 · Intel (2014, 2018)
Storage upgrades on upgradable Intel Mac minis, SSD replacement, power-supply fault diagnosis, Ethernet and Thunderbolt port repair. Apple silicon Mac mini units have soldered storage but we can still help with macOS reinstall, peripheral issues, networking and external-drive configuration.
Mac Studio repair
M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2 Max, M2 Ultra
Mac Studio is relatively new and most work we see on it is macOS-level: clean installs, user-account migration, Time Machine setup, external Thunderbolt storage and connectivity. For hardware work we assess on-site and can refer to an Apple-authorised service provider if the specific fault needs factory-only parts.

Cracked or dim Mac screen
Liquid Retina, Retina 5K and 4K iMac displays replaced with in-spec panels. Same-day on common MacBook sizes.
Battery swelling or rapid drain
Swollen batteries are a fire risk and should be replaced quickly. New batteries cycle-tested before fitting.
Keyboard not responding
Butterfly keyboard failures, stuck keys, top-case replacements and trackpad faults on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Liquid damage
Immediate cleaning, desiccant treatment and component-level inspection. Every case is different, honest assessment before work.
Slow Mac, beachball, full disk
Ageing Fusion Drives, low free storage, too-many login items, kernel panics. Often fully resolved in one visit.
Mac will not boot
Flashing folder, grey screen, apple logo then restart, recovery-mode issues. We diagnose the root cause and recover data first.
Lost files or failed drive
Photos, iCloud Drive, Time Machine recovery, Migration Assistant failures. No-recovery, no-fee on most jobs.
macOS install or upgrade issues
Clean installs, stuck upgrades from Ventura, Sonoma or Sequoia, failed Recovery Assistant, APFS problems.
Logic board faults
Not cost-effective on all models. We say so up front when a clean machine makes more sense than a board repair.

Take your Mac to Apple (or an Apple-authorised service provider) when it is in warranty, when you have AppleCare, or when the part is on a known Apple repair programme. In those cases first-party service is unbeatable because the cost is zero or subsidised.
Choose an independent Mac specialist when the Mac is out of warranty, when Apple has classified the model as obsolete (anything older than seven years typically), when you need a repair done the same day rather than waiting a week for shipping, or when Apple’s quote comes back close to the cost of a new machine. That is most of our Mac customers.
