Why people book this

Home IT support should be patient, practical and jargon-free.

Verge Tech helps households with the technology that interrupts daily life: weak Wi-Fi, printers, slow laptops, email problems, virus warnings, data recovery, smart devices and new device setup. The work is explained clearly and paced properly.

Email, video calls and staying in touch

Setting up Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp video or Microsoft Teams — and showing you how to use them. Our most common request, especially with family abroad or grandchildren away at university.

Online banking, shopping and printers

Confidence with online banking, secure shopping on Amazon or eBay, paying bills online, photo printing and document scanning. We help you do it once, then leave notes so you can do it again.

Scams, fraud and online safety

How to spot phishing emails, fake "Microsoft Support" calls, courier text scams, refund scams and romance scams. Practical safety, no paranoia.

What we help with

The things most older adults ask us about.

Pick anything from this list — or tell us what is on your mind and we will work through it together at your pace.

Email and account recovery

Set up Gmail, Outlook, BT, Sky or Yahoo email properly. Recover access if you have been locked out, change a forgotten password safely, and explain what to do with all those "verify your account" messages.

Video calls with family

Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp video, Microsoft Teams, Skype. We help you make and receive calls from any device — phone, tablet, laptop. We will run a test call with you before we leave.

Online banking and shopping

Confidence with online banking from your bank’s app or website. Secure shopping on Amazon and eBay. Paying bills online. Managing direct debits and standing orders.

Photos, printers and scanning

Print photos from your phone, scan documents for HMRC or insurance, organise the family photo library on iPad or Windows, share photos with the grandchildren.

Scam and fraud prevention

Identify scam emails, refund scams, fake "Microsoft Support" calls, courier text scams, romance scams and "you have won" pop-ups. We set up basic protections and show you what to look out for.

Passwords and account safety

A simple, sustainable password system that does not require remembering 50 different things. Sign in with a fingerprint or face where possible. Recovering accounts if you forget.

For family members

How to book a visit for a parent.

Many of our visits are booked by a son or daughter on behalf of a parent. The process is the same — and you can be as involved as you want.

1. Book on their behalf

Use the booking form with the older person’s address and a short note explaining what they need help with. We will confirm timing with them or you, whichever you prefer.

2. Be there if you want, or not

Some families want to join by video call during the visit. Others prefer to leave us to it. Either is fine. We send a written summary of what we did afterwards.

3. Repeat sessions are normal

It is common to book a follow-up visit a few weeks later to reinforce what we showed. Many of our seniors clients have us back monthly or quarterly. We hold their preferences on file.

FAQs

Questions people ask before booking.

Do you visit at home?

Yes. Home visits are our standard service for older adults. We come to you across London, Berkshire and Surrey. No call-out fee in West London.

Can a family member book on behalf of a parent?

Yes, this is very common. Use the booking form with the older person’s address and a short note. We confirm timing with whoever you prefer, and send a written summary of the visit afterwards.

Will you explain things slowly?

Always. We work at your pace. There are no silly questions and we will repeat anything until it makes sense. We also leave written notes so you can do it yourself next time.

Can you help with scams and online safety?

Yes. We help you identify scam emails, phone calls, texts and websites — phishing, fake Microsoft support, courier scams, refund scams, romance scams. We set up basic protections on your devices and explain what to look out for.

Can you set up a video call with my family?

Yes. Setting up Zoom, FaceTime, WhatsApp video, Microsoft Teams or Skype is one of our most common requests. We run a real test call with you before we leave so you know it works.

I have forgotten my email password — can you help?

Yes. We help with email account recovery for Gmail, Outlook, BT, Sky, Yahoo and others. We set up a simple, sustainable way to handle passwords so it is less likely to happen again.

Do you cover iPads, iPhones and Android phones?

Yes. We help with all common devices — Windows PCs, Apple Macs, iPads, iPhones, Android phones and tablets, Kindle, smart speakers (Alexa, Google) and basic smart TVs.

How often do people book a repeat session?

There is no rule. Some clients see us once and never need us again. Others book monthly or quarterly to reinforce what they learned, get help with new things, or just have someone friendly to ask. Both are welcome.
