If Windows is looping or the drive is clicking, protect the files first.
A reset or reinstall can make a data-recovery job harder. We check the drive and backup route before changing partitions, reinstalling Windows or running destructive repair tools.
- Do not factory reset if files are not backed up
- Do not ignore clicking, freezing or SMART warnings
- Have your Microsoft account details ready if possible
- Keep the BitLocker recovery key if Windows asks for it
Why people book this
Home IT support should be patient, practical and jargon-free.
Verge Tech helps households with the technology that interrupts daily life: weak Wi-Fi, printers, slow laptops, email problems, virus warnings, data recovery, smart devices and new device setup. The work is explained clearly and paced properly.
Automatic repair loop
Often caused by corrupted boot files, failed updates or a failing SSD. We check storage health before running repair commands.
Blue screens and restarts
Drivers, RAM, storage, overheating and update conflicts can all cause BSOD errors. We diagnose from logs and hardware checks.
Windows 10 after end of support
Windows 10 support ended on 14 October 2025. We help with Windows 11 upgrade, replacement advice or safer temporary options.

Safe, patient support
Older adults and less confident users get clear explanations without pressure, jargon or rushed handover.

Who this is for
Built for real users.
If you recognise yourself in any of these, we've done the work before.
Repair routes
We avoid reinstalling Windows unless it is the right route.
A clean install can fix many problems, but it also takes longer and risks missing app settings. We try the repair route first when it is safe.
Startup repair
Boot files, recovery environment, disk checks and recent update rollback where the drive is healthy.
Windows Update repair
Failed cumulative updates, stuck downloads, component store repair and driver conflicts.
Clean reinstall
Used when repair would be slower or less reliable. Files are backed up first where the drive allows it.
Upgrade planning
Windows 11 compatibility, TPM, storage space, app readiness and backup checked before upgrade.
FAQs
Questions people ask before booking.
My computer is stuck on "Preparing automatic repair" — can you fix it?
Yes. This is one of the most common Windows issues we fix. It is usually caused by corrupted boot files or a failing hard drive. We diagnose the root cause.
Will I lose my files if Windows is reinstalled?
We back up your data before any reinstall. As long as the drive is working, your files are safe.
Should I upgrade to Windows 11?
If your PC supports it, yes. Windows 10 support ended on 14 October 2025, so unsupported home machines need an upgrade, an Extended Security Updates route, or replacement planning. We can check compatibility and handle the upgrade.
Can you fix Windows without coming to my home?
For many issues yes — remote access works well for software fixes. Startup and blue screen issues usually require an on-site visit or for you to bring the computer to us.
Can you recover files before reinstalling Windows?
Yes. If the drive still works, we back up your user folders before reinstalling. If the drive is failing, we switch to a data-recovery route first.
What if Windows asks for a BitLocker recovery key?
We help you look for the key in your Microsoft account or business account. Without the key, encrypted data may not be recoverable, so we check this before reinstall work.
