Criminals are tricking people into disclosing their credentials.
Amazon user accounts have been exploited to purchase gift cards from devices not previously associated with the users’ accounts, according to a new round of phishing emails. There is a link to cancel the order in case it was done by accident or by an unauthorised party in scam mailings. The link takes you to a phoney Amazon login page that resembles the real thing. You’ll be able to access your account by logging in.
Avoiding phishing attacks:
- It’s important to remember that the holiday shopping season is a popular time for all kinds of scammers. In an email, avoid clicking on links that are embedded.
- Go to the Amazon app or website, and type the URL manually into your browser if you have any concerns about your recent purchases.
